Moxygen

Born and raised in Minnesota, Moxygen began painting at a young age, drifting away from artistic outlets and towards soccer and rugby throughout her teens. While completing her BA in Strategic Communications at the University of Minnesota, she rediscovered her passion for visual arts and creative self expression.

Moxygen explores expression in many forms, each serving as an escape from the suffocating battle with mental illness. Like oxygen sustains life, the creative process provided Moxygen with a way to escape, a way to breathe amongst the intricacies of existence. The concept of duality within art, between the creator and observer, humanity and life itself inspires the mix of mediums and themes throughout her work. Painting, digital illustrations, embroidery and sewing reopened the door to her childhood dream, becoming an artist.
